A Romantic rainy proposal in new orleans at jackson square
There’s something undeniably romantic about New Orleans—the charm, the history, and the way every corner feels like it holds a story. As a Baton Rouge wedding photographer, I get to witness some of the most meaningful moments in people’s lives, and this one was truly unforgettable.
A thoughtful Surprise in the heart of New Orleans
Caden reached out to me with a plan that was incredibly intentional—he wanted to surprise Linly with a proposal in New Orleans, a place she absolutely loves. He worked alongside his sweet, soon-to-be mother-in-law to make sure every detail felt special and meaningful.
They traveled in for the occasion, excited and ready for the moment… but when the day came, it was pouring rain.
When the rain tried to steal the moment
If you’ve ever visited Jackson Square, you know how iconic it is—especially with the St. Louis Cathedral creating the most timeless backdrop.
But that day, the skies opened up.
It was the kind of rain that makes you rethink everything.
Caden, being so thoughtful, was actually more worried about my camera than anything else. But even with the weather working against us, I was determined to make it work and he didn’t want to give up on a sweet moment for Linly—and honestly, that says everything about who he is.
So we waited.
Perfect Timing (and a little bit of magic)
As they walked up to Jackson Square, something incredible happened—the rain let up.
Right there, overlooking the square, Caden got down on one knee and asked Linly to marry him. It was quiet, emotional, and completely genuine—the kind of moment that feels still, even in a city as vibrant as New Orleans.
And then, just as quickly as it paused, the rain came pouring back down.
Embracing the moment
Most people might have run for cover—but not these two.
They leaned into it.
Laughing, holding onto each other, completely unbothered by the downpour. It made for the kind of images you can’t plan—the real, joy-filled, beautifully imperfect moments that tell the true story of the day.
If there’s one thing this proposal proves, it’s this:
The best moments aren’t perfect—they’re real.
Rain didn’t take away from this proposal—it made it even more memorable.
As a Baton Rouge wedding photographer, I always remind my couples that your story matters more than perfect conditions. Whether it’s sunshine or a sudden downpour, what you’ll remember most is how it felt—and this felt like joy, intention, and a whole lot of love.
Planning your own proposal / engagement or wedding
If you’re planning a proposal or wedding in Louisiana—whether in New Orleans or closer to Baton Rouge—I’d love to document it in a way that feels timeless, emotional, and true to you.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not about perfect weather.
It’s about moments like this.
