Colt & Madison Cusick | Romantic Valentine’s Day Wedding at Fleur De Lis Tea Company in Amite, Louisiana
Wedding Photography & Videography by Alesia Kim & Co.
Some weddings feel extra meaningful — and Colt and Madison’s wedding was one of those days for us. Not only did we have the honor of capturing both photography and cinematography, but these two are also family. Madison married my husband’s cousin, which made documenting their wedding day even more special and personal.
Their Valentine’s Day celebration was filled with intentional moments, genuine emotion, and a timeless Southern charm that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple.
Getting Ready at a Private Airbnb in Amite, Louisiana
The day began at a cozy Airbnb just outside of Amite, where both Colt and Madison prepared for the biggest day of their lives surrounded by close friends and family.
The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful — exactly how a wedding morning should feel.
Natural window light poured into the space, creating a soft, editorial look for Madison’s bridal details and getting-ready portraits. One of our favorite parts of photographing weddings that begin in private homes or Airbnbs is how intimate and personal the environment feels. Every moment unfolds naturally, allowing us to document genuine interactions rather than staged ones.
From final touches of makeup to quiet anticipation before the ceremony, the morning set the tone for a heartfelt and emotional day.
A Valentine’s Day Ceremony at Fleur De Lis Tea Company
Colt and Madison chose Fleur De Lis Tea Company in Amite, Louisiana as their wedding venue — a charming and elegant space known for its warm Southern atmosphere and romantic setting.
Their February 14th wedding date added an extra layer of meaning, celebrating love on a day already devoted to it.
The ceremony was emotional, joyful, and deeply centered around family — something that made this wedding especially memorable for us as both vendors and relatives.
A Windy Louisiana Wedding Day (That Made Magic on Film)
Louisiana weather always keeps wedding days interesting, and this one brought strong winds throughout the afternoon.
While wind can present challenges for photography, it also creates movement — and movement tells a story.
For video, the wind worked beautifully. Madison’s veil and dress flowed effortlessly, adding cinematic motion that elevated their wedding film and gave their portraits an editorial, fine-art feel. The energy in the air translated into dynamic visuals that simply cannot be replicated on a perfectly still day.
Even with the challenges, we were able to create stunning portraits by leaning into any possible protected locations, thoughtful posing, and natural interactions between the couple. Some of our favorite images came from embracing the environment rather than fighting it.
Madison was stunning!
Why Photo + Video Matters on Your Wedding Day
Because we captured both photography and videography for Colt and Madison, their story will be preserved in two complementary ways:
Photography freezes moments in timeless imagery.
Cinematography preserves movement, voices, and emotion exactly as they happened.
Seeing Colt’s reactions, hearing laughter during toasts, and watching the way Madison’s dress moved in the wind are memories that come alive differently through film.
This is why many of our couples choose combined photo and video coverage — it allows their wedding story to be experienced, not just remembered.
A Wedding That Felt Like Home
Photographing and filming weddings is always an honor, but documenting a wedding for family carries a unique weight. Every hug, every smile, and every quiet moment held deeper meaning because we weren’t just vendors — we were celebrating alongside them.
Colt and Madison’s wedding was a reminder that the most beautiful weddings aren’t defined by perfection, but by connection, joy, and the people surrounding you.
We are so grateful to have preserved these memories for them and to welcome Madison "officially" into the family.
During the reception, we snuck out with Madison and Colt to take a few nighttime photos among the trees. They turned out amazing!
